New Workshop + Personal Update
|
Hey Reader, It's been a while. Since I last emailed, I've been heads-down serving clients, traveling, drawing, and figuring out what comes next creatively. Before I get into a personal update, I wanted to let you know that I'll be teaching a FREE online sketchnoting workshop tomorrow! Now for the personal update. Over the last year, I've found myself spending less time teaching and more time doing the work itself. My days are increasingly filled with projects for illustration and graphic recording clients. Along the way, I realized that I've changed! For a long time, people might have given me a label like "the sketchnote gal." Sketchnoting will always be part of my story, and it's a skill I'm still using regularly! It led to a book, a business, thousands of students, and opportunities I never could have imagined... But lately I've felt pulled toward a broader creative life. I'm adding a new direction professionally: I'm now a "visual facilitator" and lead visual meetings, and I joined the board of IFVP in January. I'm exploring new interests: I started urban sketching in November and have continued to watercolor, and I'm still sketchnoting at church, birding, and spending time outside. Because of this shift, I don't have new sketchnoting courses or workshops beyond what's already available. I've had a course sitting at 90% finished and I just haven't been able to get it across the finish line. Sketch Academy will remain online, and existing students will continue to have access to their courses. Beyond that, I'm honestly not sure what the future looks like yet! I'm still figuring it out. If you originally joined this email list for sketchnoting tutorials, this may not be what you're looking for anymore! But if you're interested following along on my creative journey as I figure out what's next, I'd love for you to stay. Thanks for being part of the journey so far! Emily PS- I'm still on Instagram and I just started a new Youtube account to document my professional work. |
